Summary of differences between federal and state regulations

Oregon has substantial labor relations laws; however they are similar to the protections provided under the National Labor Relations Act or Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act.

Oregon private sector law covers all private employees, except those in agricultural labor, those employed by their parent or spouse, domestic service workers, supervisors, or independent contractors.

Right to work

The state has no right to work law. However, a petition of 40% or more of the employees, in a bargaining unit where membership is a condition of employment, to rescind such agreement, will result in a secret ballot election, the results of which will be certified to the labor organization and to the employer. (Oregon Revised Statutes 663.035)
