Unfair labor practices - Indiana
Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Indiana has several labor relations laws regarding union activity in private sector employment; however, these are similar to the provisions provided in the National Labor Relations Act and Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act.
Public employees
Indiana does have collective bargaining and labor relations laws for public workers and school workers.
Indiana granted state employees the right to union representation in 1990 under Executive Order 90-6. E.O. 90-6 divides most state employees into eleven different units, all of whom are eligible for union representation if the majority of the unit votes for representation.
Right to work
The state’s right to work law applies only to school workers.
