Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Alaska has no major laws differing from the National Labor Relations Act or Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act regarding union-related unfair labor practices in private sector employment.
Public employment
Alaska has specific labor relations laws for public employment. This covers collective bargaining for public employers, including the state, municipalities, boroughs, university, school districts and their employees in Alaska. The state conducts its own elections to certify or decertify employee representatives; hears unfair labor practice charges brought by employers, unions, or individuals; determines appropriate bargaining units; and enforces collective bargaining agreements.
Right to work
Alaska has no right to work law.
