Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
The Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Labor and Worker Safety, Wage and Hour Bureau administers and enforces civil rights and labor standards which have been enacted for the protection of state workers.
There are no major differences between federal and state subminimum wage regulations; however, students enrolled in cooperative vocational education programs approved by the state board of education may be employed at a learner wage rate equal to 80 per cent of the minimum wage for 180 days each year from the date of employment as a student in the vocational program.
