Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry administers and enforces civil rights and labor standards which have been enacted for the protection of state workers.
The state of Minnesota classifies employers as large or small based on gross volume of sales or business, with different minimum wage rates for each.
There is also a “training wage” for new employees who are under the age of 20 during their first 90 consecutive days of employment. Permanent or current employees may not be displaced by new employees covered by the training wage.
