Storm water information - West Virginia
The Nonpoint Source Program coordinates a multi-agency effort to control pollution originating from improper land uses, manages pollution prevention efforts and provides water quality certification to state and federal projects.
The Permit Section manages the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting program for facilities other than coal activities. This section also manages the pretreatment program and has the authority to issue general permits and regulate federal facilities under the state delegated NPDES program.
The Engineering Branch consists of:
- NPDES Permit Team, Responsible for individual permitting of industrial facilities and municipal - domestic waste facilities;
- General Permit Team, Responsible for individual permitting a large number of facilities with similar discharges such as Storm Water and Small Sewage Treatment facilities;
- Landfill Permit Team, Responsible for individual permitting industrial and sanitary landfills;
- Permit Support Team, which assists the various teams in the permit issuance procedure by providing clerical, administrative, and semi-technical support.
