Hazardous Materials
In the event of an accident involving hazardous material, the operator of the vehicle must notify the Department of Kentucky State Police within one hour of the accident. The Kentucky State Police will then notify the local jurisdiction and any other appropriate state agency with emergency action responsibility.
The operator of the vehicle must also provide the shopping papers to the state and local emergency response authorities, and immediately bring to their attention the fact that the vehicle is transporting hazardous materials.
Hazardous Waste
In the event of a release or threatened release of a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant, or petroleum to the environment that may present an imminent or substantial danger to human health or the environment, the facility authorized representative shall immediately notify the cabinet’s 24-hour emergency response line and provide a written report of the incident or accident within seven days of the release.
