California’s requirements for signs and tags correspond to the federal requirements; however, the state adds further requirements. Click on the following links to view the state and federal regulations.

A summary of the additional requirements includes the following:
- You must ensure that temporary construction signs and symbols are visible while work is being performed, and removed or covered when the hazard no longer exists (3340).
- You must have blue stop signs when working around railroad cars (3333).
- You must have warning signs for automatically controlled machines (3320).
- If aisles or walkways are obstructed, producing clearances less than 24 inches wide and 6 feet, 8 inches high, a warning sign is required on or near the obstruction (3272).
- If normal clearances are hazardous to industrial vehicle movement, you must provide clearance limit signs (3272).
- You need warning signs if the industrial railroad regulation increases hazards for your operation (3730).
- You must identify aboveground piping according to the methods described in Cal/OSHA Section 3321.
