Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Individual states promulgate laws to comply with the federal law — The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. This act is codified at 42 USC 653-653A. Employers need to only comply with state laws.
Nebraska Article 23 §48-2303 requires employers to report the hire or rehire of employees within 20 days after the date of hire or rehire or if reports are transmitted magnetically or electronically, by two monthly transmissions, if necessary, which are not less than 12 days or more than 16 days apart.
