Utah Department of Transportation (DOT), Motor Carrier Division, has incorporated by reference the federal Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Parts 171 – 180 as of January 15, 2004. The adoption of these regulations has been in effect since February 15, 2004. These regulations apply to private, common, and contract carriers engaged in intrastate and interstate operations.
The Utah DOT, Motor Carrier Division, has incorporated by reference the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Title 49, CFR, Parts 350 – 399 by reference as contained in the January 14, 2004, edition except for Parts 391.11(b)(1), 391.49, 395.1(k), 395.1(l), 395.1(m) and 395.1(n).
The Utah DOT, Motor Carrier Division, exercises regulatory control over the transportation of hazardous materials within the state.
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Waste Management and Radiation Control, is the lead agency in developing and administering the hazardous waste management program within Utah.
