The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has adopted the federal Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Parts 107, (Subpart F & G) and Parts 171 – 180, as well as Parts 40, 367, 380, 382, 383, 385 – 387, and 390 – 397 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, in effect since March 16, 2011.
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio exercises regulatory control over the transportation of hazardous materials and hazardous waste within the state.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administers the hazardous waste management program within Ohio.
