The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) has adopted by reference the federal Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Parts 107, 130, 171-173, and 177-180, as well as Parts 350, 365, 376, 382, 383, 385, 386, 387, and 390-397 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, as amended. These regulations apply to both interstate and intrastate motor carriers operating within Georgia.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS), through its Motor Carrier Compliance Division, regulates and enforces hazardous materials transportation requirements within the state.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) administers Georgia's hazardous waste management program and regulates hazardous waste activities within the state.
