The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) has adopted by reference the federal Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Subpart B of Part 107, Parts 171-178, and Part 180, as amended. In addition, Connecticut has adopted by reference the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Title 49, CFR, Part 388 and Parts 390-397, as amended.

The transportation of hazardous materials is regulated by the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) and the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is the lead agency in developing and administering the hazardous waste management program within Connecticut.
