Intrastate

Tennessee requires private towing and wrecker services to register for intrastate authority. There is a one-time application fee of $50, and an annual per vehicle fee of $8. Carriers who are compensated intercorporate haulers must register their operations with the DOS. They are also subject to the financial responsibility laws.

The authority credential issued by Tennessee must be carried in the vehicle.

Interstate

Tennessee is a participating member of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA). Online registration and fee payment is recommended and available to all carriers at the national UCRA website at www.ucr.in.gov.
