Intrastate
Motor carriers transporting their own property by using their own equipment and drivers are considered private carriers and are not required to register with the PUCO. They are, however, required to comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Carriers transporting hazardous materials in Ohio need to register with the PUCO only if they are operating in intrastate commerce. Registration forms are available on the intrastate motor carrier and registration page at https://puco.ohio.gov/ or by calling (800) 686-PUCO (7826).

Interstate
Ohio is a participating member of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA). Online registration and fee payment is recommended and available to all carriers at the national UCRA website at www.ucr.in.gov.
