Summary of differences between federal and state regulations

Arkansas law prohibits employers from publicly posting or displaying an individual’s Social Security Number (SSN). Employers may not print an individual’s SSN on material that is mailed in a manner in which the SSN is visible. Employers may not require individuals to transmit their SSN over the internet unless the connection is secure or the SSN is encrypted. This is effective January 1, 2007.
