Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
In Ohio, an employer/former employer may disclose to a prospective employer upon request of the prospective employer or an employee/former employee information about employee/former employee job performance and other requested information, unless:
- He/She disclosed information:
- He/She knows is false,
- With intent to mislead, or
- With malicious intent; or
- The information disclosure would constitute unlawful discrimination.
