Lighting and reflection requirements
Every pole trailer must be equipped on the rear with:
- One red tail lamp; and
- Two red reflectors, one at each side, placed to indicate extreme width of the pole trailer.
Every pole trailer must be equipped on each side, on the rearmost support for the load:
- One combination marker lamp showing amber to the front and red to the side and rear, mounted to indicate the maximum width of the pole trailer; and
- A red reflector, located at or near the rear.
Pole trailers greater than or equal to 30 feet in overall length must be equipped with an amber marker lamp on each side near the center.

“Freight trailer” means any trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer drawn by a truck tractor or road tractor and any trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer drawn by a truck that has a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds.
“Utility trailer” means any trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer, but does not include freight trailers.
