Drawbar or other connection
The requirement that when one vehicle is towing another, the drawbar or other connection must be of sufficient strength to pull all weight towed, and the drawbar or other connection must not exceed 15 feet from one vehicle to the other, does not apply to:
- The connection between any two vehicles transporting poles or pipe which cannot be readily dismembered; or
- When the connections between vehicles are of rigid construction and are included as part of the structural design of the towed vehicle and the overall combined length of the vehicles and the connection does not exceed 55 feet.

Operation without cargo
Adjustable pole trailers that are primarily designed for the transportation of cargo must have the connection between vehicles reduced to 15 feet or less when operating without cargo if the overall vehicle combination exceeds 55 feet.

“Pole”, “pipe trailer”, or “dolly” means every vehicle of the trailer type having one or more axles not more than 48 inches apart and two or more wheels used in connection with a motor vehicle solely for the purpose of transporting poles or pipes and connected with the towing vehicle both by chain, rope, or cable and by the load without any part of the weight of said dolly resting upon the towing vehicle.
