All vehicles, except those operating with in-transit stickers, are required to undergo compulsory inspections at an official testing center. An owner or operator of a vehicle may not operate a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker in place and a valid inspection certificate for the vehicle in his/her possession.
A Type 1 vehicle is a passenger motor vehicle, a truck and van that weighs under 4,501 kilograms, implements of husbandry that are not required to display slow moving signs, motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, trailers that weigh less than 4,501 kilograms, motor homes (including motorized buses or buses converted for that purpose), and trailers designed and intended for use as living quarters (temporary or permanent).
A Type 2 vehicle is a truck and truck tractor that weighs 4,501 kilograms or more, trailers that weigh 4,501 kilograms or more, ambulances, hearses, motor vehicle service, repair, or towing trucks, taxicabs, fire department vehicles, buses not licensed as public passenger vehicles (except buses that are passenger vehicles as defined in subsection 2(h) of the Motor Carrier Act), or vehicles that have permanently mounted equipment on a truck or truck tractor chassis, such as a crane, a lifting device, or well-drilling or other miscellaneous equipment.
Inspections, which must be conducted by a certified tester, will include the following parts of a Type 1 vehicle (except motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, or trailers):

Following the inspection, the tester or vehicle inspector will remove and destroy the existing inspection sticker and inspection certificate, if any, and then issue a new approval sticker or rejection sticker for the vehicle, together with an inspection certificate signed by the tester. The tester or vehicle inspector will then affix the inspection sticker to the vehicle.
On a vehicle equipped with a windshield, an inspection sticker must be securely affixed to the lower left-hand interior of the windshield. On a trailer, the sticker must be affixed to the lower left-hand side of the trailer as near to the front of the trailer as possible.
A sticker issued to a new Type 1 vehicle is valid for three years from the end of the month of its issue.
A sticker issued to a used Type 1 vehicle is valid for two years from the end of the month of its issue.
A sticker issued to a Type 2 vehicle is valid for one year from the end of the month of its issue.
Vehicles and trailers not passing the inspection will receive a rejection sticker and must be reinspected within 10 days.
Owners or operators of vehicles requiring inspection must ensure that the inspection is perfomed by a certified tester or vehicle inspector and must produce the valid inspetction certificate for the vehicle, if requested by an officer.
