Pay transparency
Employers in the state of Washington must disclose in all job postings the wage scale or salary range as well as a general description of all benefits and compensation to be offered. If an employee is offered an internal transfer or promotion, employers must provide the wage scale or salary range of their new position. The law applies to employers with 15 or more employees.
Salary history
In Washington, an employer may not seek the wage or salary history of an applicant for employment or require that an applicant’s wage or salary history meet certain criteria. Employers may confirm an applicant’s wage or salary history if the applicant has voluntarily disclosed it, or after the employer has made an employment offer that includes the rate of compensation to the applicant.
