Pay transparency
There are no state-wide laws regarding pay transparency in Maine.
Salary history
Employers in Maine may not ask about the compensation history of a prospective employee. If an offer of employment, including compensation terms, has been negotiated and made to the prospective employee, the employer may ask about or confirm the employee’s previous salary history. An employer may inquire about an applicant’s salary history if any federal or state law specifically requires that information for employment purposes.
