New Mexico follows federal OSHA regulations for overhead and gantry cranes.
New Mexico has its own state OSHA plan which has adopted all federal OSHA standards, including those related to overhead and gantry cranes.
In New Mexico, under the Crane Operators Safety Act, NMSA 1978, §§ 60-15-1 to -15 (2017), all crane operators performing construction, demolition, or excavation work must have a valid and current New Mexico license to operate within the State.
However, these licensing rules do not apply to overhead and gantry crane operators in an industrial setting.
