Distracted driving/Cell phones while driving
The Yukon Territory prohibits drivers from using electronic devices while operating a motor vehicle on a highway. An electronic device includes cell phones, two-way radios, or other devices capable of transmitting or receiving electronic messages or text messages.
Use, in respect of an electronic devices, includes holding the device in a position in which it may be used, operating any function of the device, and communicating by means of the device.
Exceptions
The Yukon Territory allows drivers to use two-way radios (push-to-talk) while operating a motor vehicle, provided that the driver does not use the two-way radio’s telephone function or to transmit or receive electronic mail or other text messages.
Drivers may use electronic devices in hands-free mode.
Peace officers, fire department personnel, and emergency medical responders may also use electronic devices while driving to carry out their powers, duties, or functions.
