Prince Edward Island-based commercial vehicles

Prince Edward Island no longer requires passenger or property carrier authority. Carriers operating commercial vehicles defined as vehicles with a gross mass exceeding 4,500 kilograms and buses that have a seating capacity of more than 10 passengers must obtain a safety fitness certificate.

Out-of-Province Carriers

Prince Edward Island does not require passenger or property carrier authority and will accept the safety fitness certificate of the carrier’s base jurisdiction.

U. S. Carriers

Prince Edward Island no longer requires passenger or property carrier authority. U.S.-based carriers operating into Prince Edward Island may be required to show their U.S. federal operating authority and their U.S. DOT number when requested by enforcement.
