International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)

Alaska is not a member of the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and has no other fuel tax registration or reporting requirements for motor carriers operating motor vehicles into or through Alaska.

Mileage/highway use taxes

No requirements

Tax refunds or credits

Fuel tax refunds may be allowed if the fuel was used for exempt purposes or if the fuel was used off highway. The refund is $.06 per gallon for off highway use. If the fuel was used for an exempt purpose, then the entire tax may be refunded.
