A medical report must be completed by a qualified physician in accordance with the Canadian Medical Association’s (CMA) standards and filed with the Registrar at the time of licence application. On the basis of this report, the Registrar will determine whether a certain class of license may be issued or if it may be issued with restrictions.
Periodic medical examinations are also required for drivers in the following classes:
- Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4:
- Every five years to age 45;
- Every three years from age 45 to age 65; and
- Annually thereafter;
- Classes 5, 6, and 8:
- At age 75;
- At age 80; and
- Every two years thereafter
