Provides immunity for rescuers, acquirers and enablers of AEDs. Encourages/requires CPR & AED training to AHA or ARC standards.
A summary of the additional requirements includes the following:
- First-aid training must be equal to that of the American Red Cross or the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
- First-aid materials must be approved by the consulting physician.
- First-aid materials must be readily available to all employees on every job.
- First-aid materials must be kept in a sanitary and usable condition.
- The first-aid materials must be inspected frequently and replenished as necessary.
- Stretchers and blankets may be required if ambulance service is more than 30 minutes away.
- Provisions must be made for prompt medical treatment in the event of serious injury or illness. This must be accomplished by a communication system for contacting a doctor or emergency medical service, readily accessible and available on-site treatment facility, and/or proper equipment for prompt medical transport.
