Transportation of Hazardous Materials
No permit is required for the transportation of hazardous materials within the state.
Transportation of Hazardous Waste
No permit is required to transport hazardous waste within North Carolina. Other requirements to transport hazardous waste within the state include:
- Notifying the Hazardous Waste Section of the DEQ,
- Obtaining a valid United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) number,
- Accepting only hazardous waste that is listed on a manifest,
- Following hazardous waste manifest procedures,
- Delivering the hazardous waste to the facility designated on the manifest or to the next designated transporter, and
- Keeping a copy of the signed manifest for three years after the date of acceptance by the transporter.
