Transportation of Hazardous Materials
No permit is required to transport hazardous materials within the state. Almost all hazardous shipments must be accompanied by shipping papers that contain specific information, including the proper shipping name of the material, hazard class, identification number, packing group of the material, total quantity, emergency telephone number, and emergency response information.
For more information, visit Carrier Resources, Hazardous Material Transportation, at www.dot.ny.gov.
Transportation of Hazardous Waste
The New York State Environmental Conservation Law requires that anyone engaged in the transportation of regulated waste — including hazardous waste — generated or disposed of within New York State must possess a valid New York State Part 364 Waste Transporter Permit.
For more information, visit Waste Transporters at www.dec.ny.gov.
