Transportation of Hazardous Materials
The transportation of hazardous materials does not require a permit; however, trucks are required to display a placard for the material or materials they are transporting. Placards and paperwork may be inspected at the ports of entry by the New Mexico DPS.
Transportation of Hazardous Waste
No permit is required to transport hazardous waste within the state. Transporters of hazardous waste must obtain a United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identification number, and the waste must be manifested.
