Transportation of Hazardous Materials
The NHP is responsible for permitting motor carriers transporting hazardous materials within the state. In addition to the permit offered through the Uniform Program, the NHP offers a Nevada 72-hour Temporary Hazmat Transportation Permit. Transporters of hazardous materials must obtain a permit prior to entering the state.

Nevada is one of four states participating in the Uniform State Hazardous Materials Registration and Permitting Program. As a participant in the Uniform Program, Nevada uses the same uniform procedures and application forms for hazardous materials transportation registration and permits as West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Carriers need to contact their base state to register and apply for the permit, which will then — after a carrier has registered and paid its fees — be honored by each state that participates in the Uniform Program. Refer to Nevada Administrative Code 459.9805 for information regarding fees associated with the Uniform Program.
