Transportation of Hazardous Material
No permit is required for the transportation of hazardous materials.
Transportation of Hazardous Waste
Any person who generates, transports, treats, stores, or disposes of hazardous waste is required to notify KDHE of their hazardous waste activities and obtain an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identification number.
Kansas also requires that transporters, prior to transporting hazardous waste within Kansas, must submit a Hazardous Waste Transporter Registration Application with the KDHE. There is one application for transporters located within Kansas, and one application for transporters located outside of Kansas. A person shall not transport hazardous waste within, into, out of, or throughout Kansas without written acknowledgment from the department that registration is complete.
