Transportation of Hazardous Materials 

Idaho Code 49-2203 requires each motor vehicle that transports hazardous materials in a quantity that requires placarding — as well as vehicles transporting hazardous waste that must be manifested — to obtain an annual registration endorsement to operate within Idaho. The annual cost of the Hazardous Materials Endorsement is $15 per vehicle.

Transportation of Hazardous Waste

Idaho Code 49-2202 requires a single trip or annual permit to transport hazardous waste that meets any of the following qualifiers:

1. Is waste shipped in an amount that requires placards,
2. Is waste shipped on an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Hazardous Waste Manifest, or
3. Is waste containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB).

The permit must be available for examination and displayed in accordance with the rules adopted by the state. The fee for a single trip permit is $20, and the fee for an annual permit is $250.
