Transportation of Hazardous Materials
No permit is required to transport hazardous materials within the state.
Transportation of Hazardous Waste and Used Oil
All handlers of regulated waste are required to complete EPA Form 8700-12 for initial notification to obtain an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identification (ID) number, and subsequent notifications to update the site identification information. For more information, visit Notification of Regulated Waste Activity at https://health.hawaii.gov.
Requests for new EPA ID numbers and subsequent notifications can be submitted online via myRCRAid.
In addition to EPA Form 8700-12, processors and transporters of used oil are required to obtain a used oil permit from the DOH. To view the used oil permit application, visit the Hawaii DOH Hazardous Waste Section at https://health.hawaii.gov.
