Yes. If a driver has sustained an injury or has a medical condition that may make them unsafe to carry out their driving duties, the driver must be examined by a certified medical examiner. Only a trained medical professional can truly make that decision. If medical qualification comes into question and the driver may be unsafe operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), send the driver in for a medical examination before allowing the driver to operate a CMV. (391.45(f))
