The prohibition from performing safety-sensitive functions, as it relates to 382.501, applies to drivers operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).
If the driver engaged in prohibited behavior under Subart B to Part 382 and has not completed the return-to-duty process, the following table explains what restrictions apply:
CDL status | Performing a safety-sensitive functions associated with a CMV as defined in 383.5 (e.g., > 26,000 lbs.) | Operation of a CMV that does not require a CDL (e.g., 10,001- 26,000 lbs., no placarded hazmat) |
