In the case in which a driver has a valid medical examiner’s certificate from a previous employer, the current employer may accept the certification rather than send the driver in for an additional physical. However, the current carrier is not obligated to accept it and may send the driver in for their own physical. Any employer who accepts a previous employer’s medical examiner’s certification is taking on any liabilities associated with the physical, including any errors which may have occurred.
