If a driver is between employers following a DOT testing violation, are they permitted to take a DOT return-to-duty test on their own without a motor carrier?
No. DOT tests of any type must be attributed to a motor carrier’s program. The driver would be limited to pursuing the substance abuse professional and treatment independent of a motor carrier’s program.
