How long does it take to process an Incidental Take Authorization?

It depends on the complexity and scale of proposed activities. Submit a complete application at least six months before an Incidental Harassment Authorization (IHA) is needed and at least 12 months before Incidental Take Regulations (ITRs) are needed. Note that IHAs apply specifically under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. It may take up to 18 months from your initial communication to the promulgation of final ITRs. The process for issuance of an IHA may take 12 months.
