OSHA and ANSI only address this issue by saying that emergency flushing facilities must be in the work area for immediate emergency use and that those facilities must not take more than 10 seconds to reach from where the hazard is located. ANSI says that an individual covers approximately 55 feet in that time frame. As such, an employer does have some latitude on eyewash and/or shower placement. If the electrical panel would pose an additional risk due to exposure while using eyewash and/or shower, then ANSI says it must be relocated or moved.
