How do I evaluate an employee’s competency to operate a truck safely?
Evaluation of an operator’s performance can be determined by a number of ways, such as:
- A discussion with employees.
- An observation of the employee operating the powered industrial truck.
- Written documentation of previous training.
- A performance test.
All operator training and evaluation “shall be conducted by persons who have the knowledge, training, and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence.”
