Any change in duty status must be logged on the driver’s record of duty status. All changes which are less than 15 minutes must be flagged by drawing a line from the appropriate on-duty line to the remarks section with the amount of time indicated. Sec. 395.8(h)(5) says drivers have to indicate the location of each change in duty status, but there is no requirement to note what they are doing at that location.
Many carriers require through company policy that their drivers note load checks (“LC”) and/or tire checks (“TC”) on their logs, as well a fuel stops.
