Hawaii has adopted Part 395 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) as they existed on May 31, 2018.
Part 395 applies to interstate and intrastate operation of a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating, or gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, whichever is greater, or a vehicle of any size transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Section 395.1(i) states that logs are not required, provided the carrier maintains (for a period of 6 months) time records showing:
- The total number of hours the driver is on duty each day, and
- The time at which the driver reports for and is released from duty each day.
