Hazardous waste cleanup programs - Vermont
Vermont (EPA Region 1) is fully authorized to implement its own Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) oversees hazardous waste cleanup and remediation in the state, including site investigations, corrective action planning and public notice, performance monitoring, and long-term oversight. The Hazardous Waste Section develops and enforces regulations, conducts compliance inspections, issues permits, addresses citizen complaints related to hazardous waste management, provides guidance on regulatory requirements, and maintains tracking of hazardous waste data.
