Utah (EPA Region 8) is fully authorized to implement its own Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (DWMRC) administers the program, conducting the investigation and remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater, air, and surface water at permitted sites and environmental cleanup program sites. Other hazardous waste-related responsibilities include permitting and inspections, regulatory compliance, waste minimization, and more.
