Hazardous waste cleanup programs - Tennessee
Tennessee (EPA Region 4) is fully authorized to implement its own Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Division of Solid Waste Management administers the program. Under the RCRA Corrective Action program, the state oversees investigation and cleanup of contaminated areas. The Hazardous Waste Program regulates activities like permitting and inspections of treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs); the management of hazardous waste from generators; the registration of hazardous waste transporters; and more.
