South Carolina (EPA Region 4) is fully authorized to implement its own Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) Bureau of Land & Waste Management administers the program, adopting and enforcing hazardous waste management regulations. The agency issues permits, conducts inspections, and directs corrective actions/cleanup programs in the state.
