Hazardous waste cleanup programs - Nebraska
Nebraska (EPA Region 7) is fully authorized to implement its own Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) administers the state’s hazardous waste program and oversees corrective action at RCRA facilities to ensure proper cleanup of hazardous waste. The DWEE handles permitting, identifies Areas of Concern, conducts investigations and inspections, and creates action plans for owners/operators to manage and remediate contamination, especially at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs).
