Maine (EPA Region 1) is fully authorized to implement its own Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MDEP) manages the state’s hazardous waste program, including overseeing the disposal and cleanup of hazardous waste as well as the licensing, inspection, and reporting systems.
